have done so much lately had no time to catch up here. So what am doing? Working as a freelance brand manager for two upcoming fashion collections, Mauro Gasperi and Textile Rebels, and having so much fun. I will be posting images and more on this in the next few days… love being back!
Once upon a time in London, there was an Arabian prince that also was a showroom owner. The showroom looked more like a palace than anything else: a huge, white building a few steps away from Oxford street. Working there was really mysterious: you rarely knew what was going on, since the owner’s family – i.e. the management – were always talking in their native language amongst themselves. We, the staff, were left guessing. In such wonderful atmosphere, some of the most famous Italian brands were represented. The showroom had a wonderful restaurant, run by an experienced chef, and when some of the staff had to go somewhere for the company, there was a limo taking them around, with a driver and a body guard and – of course – blacked windows. And as it happens in fashion, one day you’re in, and the next day… you might be out. Sales staff use to literally disappear all of a sudden: for no reason, one might arrive at his desk one morning, and find that all his stuff had disappear. No access to his computer, his documents, nothing: somebody would very politely simply take him to the door. It was really mysterious: one day you might be the management’s best friend, be with them at all parties, in most exclusive clubs, and the following morning, all of a sudden, it could be “good bye”!
So what was happening there? It took me a few months to understand…
Okay, I’ve been in fashion long enough to tell you more about it. Am I about to talk about new trends? No. Am I about to tell you who’s the latest rising star? Neither. I am going to tell you all about what really happens in fashion showrooms: and get ready for fashion thrills. The past ten years have seen the rise and fall of so many brands and showrooms, you would wonder why on earth people are still interested in the business… well from the designer who doesn’t pay his staff to the showroom owner who doesn’t know what the hell is he doing in the business, check this pages to listen to some seriously ridiculous, definitely tragic, absolutely true stories. Enough for teasing… keep reading in the next few days!
These are my favorite romantic dresses, out of my closet for your eyes only. From left: looks like a chantilly cake this short cream lacey babydoll dress. By CC Paris, found in an outlet at a fraction of its original price. Bargain: 25 Euro!!! Center: this is a Les Mademoiselles de Paris, in silk crepe and handmade lace detail. Love the dusty pink color. Not a bargain, but totally worth it. Right: Ayfree floral print and lace dress, another bargain during sales (39 euro!!!). Very Laura Ingles meets Baby Jane. Love them all.
Boredom seems to be a constant lately, and I have to say it makes me creative in a very silly way. I changed three times the color of my nails today, starting from natural to mat turquoise and ending with vitaminic orange. I hope to be seriously busy tomorrow to avoid my nails from falling down
My sister is coming over this weekend and I am seriously happy about this. Love you sista!
PS on a separate note. I feel like I have to make some major change but still don’t know exactly how, when, what.
Today I felt really blessed that I learnt Yoga, and have the opportunity to teach what I know about it. I always feel like Yoga is such an immense realm, that teaching is really tricky – you never feel ready, so I guess you have to trust the fact that you passed a certification, that you have been practicing for 15 years, and that people actually enjoy taking classes with you. Having said that, I never wanted it to be a “business”, so I never really promoted it and I am amazed that I actually am called to teach when I least expect it. That’s exactly what happened in this instance.
I was asked to give a demonstration at a local gym, and one of the girl I taught, I later found out, is managing the SPA of one of the most beautiful resorts in the area: L’Andana, Une Maison Alain Ducasse, near Castiglione della Pescaia. The place is absolutely amazing, and my pics don’t pay it justice. So I guessed you might as well check their website clicking here. The Tenuta is immense, with pastures and vineyards, a golf course, and a great ESPA beauty area. I was called to give a personal tuition today, and found it a blessing. The lady I taught to was so nice, and happy to challenge herself. The energy exchange was so good, we actually felt really uplifted after the class. What can I say… hope to repeat the experience soon!
I am so sorry I had no time to post for a few days. I have been madly busy: going to Florence to order a few collections for the stores I work with, and among these, one of my favourites: Jeffrey Campbell. I have been a client of Jeffrey Campbell for a couple of years now, ordering the craziest styles online and finally I have managed to give these shoes a home in Tuscany. They will be available as of end of July at Via Roma 1, Follonica and San Vincenzo. No need to say that I have already pre-ordered a pair of Lita, their totem style since day one. Selected by all major fashion bloggers worldwide, as well as Lady Gaga to name one of the many celebrity fans, these shoes are simply fab. To the edge of trashy but incredibly stylish once they’re on your feet, they add a special touch to all outfits. I wish I could meet the designer to tell him how much I love what he does! Love you, Jeffrey.
I open my window overlooking the sea and I smell summer. It’s something really peculiar – the smell of summer is all around me. I am about to start working. I have to update a couple of websites I look after, and prepare a brochure for one of my clients. I think I’ll do it at the beach – it’s great taking my mac and sitting on a chair outside. Inspiration comes easy this way. So that’s all I need today: a little striped stretch cotton Zara sundress, my vintage soft, floral print hat, my vintage Marni sunglasses, and a fresh linen and cotton throw (I chose lilac) by Lina Rabiti (home furnishing in Castiglione della Pescaia, GR). Just because I live in the countryside, doesn’t mean I have to compromise on style…
Good morning, summer.

Yesterday I posted a few pics and described the place… today, I thought you might want to have a look at one of the beaches you can find just minutes from your retreat. This is Baia Mia in Follonica, 15 mins drive in a luxuriously green countryside. The owner, Sabrina, made it one of the loveliest place to chill out, and the
restaurant is … well, in one word: sublime! Fresh fish and gourmet food every day. On Wednesday nights, as of July, chill out drinks on the beach till dusk.
More on our beaches in the next few days!
